On 12 July 2023, Patryk P. RYBIŃSKI, a president of FAD – Fathers Against Discrimination a.s.b.l. “Both Parents for All Children” met with H.E. Cardinal Jean-Claude HOLLERICH, Archbishop of Luxembourg.
The purpose of the meeting was to seek advice and help with respect to FAD’s quest of advocating Council of Europe Resolution 2079 (2015) and our campaign to make Equal Shared Parenting (Résidence Alternée) the default law and a starting point for all children custody proceedings in Luxembourg after separation of parents.
During a valuable meeting, Cardinal HOLLERICH expressed interest and support for the cause. His Eminence spoke about the importance of children’s natural right to equal or as equal as possible access to parents after separation and was greatly disappointed to learn that Equal Shared Parenting model is not a norm in Luxembourg and as a result rarely introduced by the Luxembourg Family Courts. The Cardinal shared his concerns that despite changes in the modern family functioning, Luxembourg is falling behind denying children equal access to parents after separation.
The Archbishop of Luxembourg shared his admiration for FAD’s work and Patryk P. RYBIŃSKI on behalf of FAD and its members congratulated His Eminence on his appointment to the Council of Cardinal Advisors by Pope Francis.
After a meaningful and constructive discussion an agreement was reached to contact other religious denominations in Luxembourg via Luxembourg Council of Religions, the Cardinal is a president of, to further discuss cooperation and the next steps in raising awareness of the importance of Equal Shared Parenting model.
