Dear all,

FAD – Fathers Against Discrimination a.s.b.l. has been created to become a platform of dialog promoting gender equality of chance for both parents, to stop violation of children’s rights and to assure their well-being.

Our objective is to protect Luxembourg children by removing possibility for either parent to use them as an instrument of blackmail during separation or after divorce. Behaviour that often leads to disastrous effects inflicted on the children by their own parents through Parental Alienation.

World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes Parental Alienation (PAS) as a disease and defines it as a severe child abuse. The results of psychological research and empirical studies in the field have described Parental Alienation as an « unacknowledged form of family violence » and confirmed long-term mental health consequences for children who experience it.

On Wednesday, February 12th, 2020 at 20:15 a German national TV station ARD will broadcast a film ”Weil Du mir gehörst“ (« Because you belong to me ») focused on the very important topic of Parental Alienation.

Film summary

For a child having equal access to both parents is an essential part of family life. Separation from a father or mother has irremediable negative effects on the upbringing, future relationship, health and social inclusion. Equality between parents must be guaranteed and promoted from the moment a child arrives.

As an organization, we promote the positive impact both parents have on the upbringing of their children. We stand against any type of bias and discriminatory practices that are not respectful of these rights and therefore we put all our efforts to make equal physical shared residency (i.e. résidence alternée égalitaire) the legal default after separation of parents in Luxembourg.

In addition to promoting equal physical shared residency by default, FAD is strongly recommending to acknowledge the danger of Parental Alienation when handling divorce custody proceedings. It is our responsibility to take every possible measure to protect the children.

Our legal advisers and experts remain available for discussion. We are in a position to provide real-life PAS case testimonies, scientific evidence and examples of psychological empirical studies confirming that equal physical shared residency is the most efficient model assuring emotional stability and the well-being of children after parents’ separation.

Yours Sincerely,
