Creation of the 1st Luxembourg based Structure with Services and Shelter dedicated to Men, Boys & Fathers with Children, Victims of Domestic Physical Violence and Emotional Abuse and” seeking help, assistance and asylum. A safe place where a man or a father with children can find shelter, receive help as well as legal and financial assistance equal to that available in Luxembourg to women and mothers. When necessary the shelter can also serve as a meeting place for fathers and children. The Ministry of Equality between Women and Men indicates on its official website that there are shelters in Luxembourg for “women, girls, women with children and men”. This is simply not true. Following confirmation FAD has received from Luxembourg Red Cross (Croix-Rouge luxembourgeoise) out of 10 shelters listed and currently available in Luxembourg not a single facility accepts men, boys or fathers with children.
In a highly international society often without any family members present in Luxembourg, men, boys and fathers with children in need of finding a safe place have nowhere to go.
Motion No.3122 – “Création de structures d’hébergement pour hommes et garçons victimes de violence domestique” was voted in the Luxembourg Parliament on 18 March 2021. More information HERE.

Current solution in a form of ORK – Ombuds-Comité pour les droits de l’enfant does not meet new age, 2019 requirements and society expectations for an office that should be protecting Children’s Rights and looking after the well-being and best interest of the Luxembourg children.
Nowadays (2019) the Grand Duchy ranks 54 in the KidsRights Index and is failing in setting example to the European community assuring the below Rights and Conventions are not violated in Luxembourg courts.
Changes introduced in the legislation in April 2020 and voted on December 2020 uniting the former Committee for Children’s Rights under the umbrella of the Ombudsman for Children and Youth institution. The changes resulted in electing Charel SCHMIT for the position in question with 45 Chamber votes, replacing René SCHLECHTER at the end of 2020. More information HERE.
