FAD – Fathers Against Discrimination a.s.b.l. has been trying to establish why a lists of judges presiding in the Luxembourg Family Courts are not public. Common understanding is that in accordance with the EU judicial system transparency law these lists should be publicly accessible allowing those interested to have free access to the information.

We inquired with Mr. BIGELBACH, Chief Clerk of the Luxembourg District Court (de greffier en chef de Tribunal d’arrondissement de Luxembourg) to provide us with the most current list of judges residing in the Luxembourg and Diekirch Tribunals. We also asked that in case our request was outside his office competences to provide us with contact details for another department in the Luxembourg Court that has the list. As before Mr. BIGELBACH was “very helpful”.

FAD has the lists but this is not the point. The information in question just like in other EU modern countries should be available to public in Luxembourg. GDPR is not applicable in this case. Copies of the letters can be found above by clicking on the Upload & Read buttons.
