Luxembourg Ranks 2nd in “Best European Countries to Raise Children Ranking” but…

According to RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg and an independent consumer research company NimbleFins, Luxembourg Ranks 2nd in Best European Countries to Raise Children Ranking.

The mentioned research took into account education, general health, environmental and lifestyle factors. The results indicate that Luxembourg shines as a great place for children to grow up healthy, safe with top ten results for sufficient exercise, good air quality and happiness…. This is great, although the research does not mention a single word about children’s rights.

It seems the rights of children are secondary factors for the researchers and continuous violation of children’s rights in Luxembourg family courts during custody hearings not allowing the kids to express their needs is not important enough to be considered in the research.

The same RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg 8 days later on May 14th, 2019 informed the public that Luxembourg ranked 54th in KidsRights Index.

KidsRights Index takes into account the economic status and democratic values of a country when calculating a nation’s children’s rights ranking. If a country is rich and developed yet scores very low on the basic principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the country will have a low score. Luxembourg’s 54th place confirms that The Grand Duchy although, tend to educate other countries on many different aspects, fails securing children’s rights in own institutions.

HYPOCRISY IN A PURE FORM.

A child should never be deprived of his natural human right to family life and equal access to both parents. Nor does anyone have the right to decide which of his parents’ love has more value.
